Yoga for the over 50’s

Yoga for the over 50’s

Stay fit – Stay active!

In your 50’s? No better time than now to get active!

Regardless of how old you are it’s never too late to start your yoga practice and start reaping the benefits of yoga.

Yoga is for everyone!

Imagine if you had more energy, more fun and felt better overall. You can feel more fit and flexible now than you did in your 30’s! Yes, it is possible, it comes from daily QiYoga classes. The “Qi” part of QiYoga stand for Qigong. It is the therapeutic form of martial arts (we QiYoga teachers think of it more like Medical Arts!)

Qigong frees stiffness in your joints, gets the synovial fluid moving and lubricating your joints so that your body can feel lighter and more flexible before introducing the yoga stretches.

Why is QiYoga the best yoga for Seniors?

Perth QiYoga Classes are taught by Jen, who is not only over 50 but she’s over 65! (Pictured right). Jen is testament that QiYoga keeps you youthful. Jen started yoga in her 40’s and in her mid-50’s trained as a QiYoga teacher in London. Jen has taught over 5,000 hours in Western Australia so is more than experienced when it comes to seniors yoga.

As you know yoga is designed to limber your body, and with QiYoga, our highly specialised technique that incorporates Qi Gong (a form of Chinese energy healing) and hatha yoga also helps with the following:

Benefits of QiYoga when over 50

  • Relieving symptoms of osteoporosis by strengthening bones
  • Reducing stress
  • Many of our students tell us it’s helped reduce their depression
  • Helps to relieve insomnia
  • Increases movement, blood flow and circulation
  • Lifts your mood
  • Experience less chronic pain
  • Reduce hypertension
  • Muscle toning and strengthening

Jen’s QiYoga classes are a mix of all ages and flexibility

QiYoga Classes (Cottesloe yoga classes and Victoria Park yoga classes)

Classes are aimed for men and women and variations are offered to those over 50. We know that as the body ages it becomes more important to keep it supple, active and strong.

Yoga has been proven to have a multitude of health benefits for mature adults and when our pace of life slows we often become susceptible to stiffening in joints and limbs slowing our movement.

QiYoga classes are not about twisting yourself into a pretzel, it’s about giving your body the attention it needs through breath and gentle stretching movements, and respectfully acknowledging any physical limitations we may have.  With gentle hatha yoga stretching combined with chi-gung (Qigong) helps ease out stiffness and improve suppleness and movement.

New to Yoga?

If you are over 50 and are new to yoga, a private one-on-one session might be perfect for you or if you haven’t exercised for some time or if you are a beginner to yoga.

Our yoga classes are more than just a yoga class

Our QiYoga classes are more than yoga! We create a sense of community. After our yoga class in Cottesloe, once a month we enjoy a cuppa with like-minded new friends. Likewise, once a month after our yoga class in Victoria Park we go out together for a laughter filled dinner.

What are you waiting for? Come join us, have a laugh, feel lighter, brighter and make new friends
